Iraqi PM invites Spanish firms to assist in Iraq’s reconstruction

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, stated on Tuesday that he urged ministries in Iraq to establish deals with reputable Spanish companies to assist in Iraq’s reconstruction efforts.

Al-Sudani’s remarks took place during his meeting with the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, on the sidelines of their participation in the Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza conference held in Jordan, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The meeting addressed relations between Iraq and Spain as well as strategies to promote bilateral ties in different fields.

The statement noted that the Iraqi Prime Minister also accepted Pedro’s invitation to visit Spain this year.

Al-Sudani clarified that bilateral committees represent an opportunity to strengthen the relationship and increase cooperation between the two countries.

The Iraqi Prime Minister praised Spain for recognizing the State of Palestine, characterizing the Spanish decision as historic and commensurate with the Palestinian people’s aspirations for independence and the foundation of an independent state.

Sanchez noted that Spain’s relations with Iraq had seen extraordinary growth during this time, and he thanked the Iraqi government for its faith in Spanish enterprises.

The Spanish Prime Minister also emphasized that his country’s support for Palestine is motivated by humanitarianism as well as legitimacy, stability, and security concerns.
